# Quickstart

Do you have your SlateCX account credentials? If so, this quickstart guide should get you up and running in less than 30 minutes.

## 1. Sign in

You sign into you account at. [https://admin.slatecx.com](https://admin.slatecx.com/)

If you don't have your account yet, there is a sign up link directly below the login button.

If you have setup Multi-factor authentication you will be asked for your Passkey.

Once logged in you will be presented with your dashboard. This is the main screen you will use to build and monitor your SlateCX agents and campaigns.

For the purpose of this quickstart we will assume you don't have any slates yet, nor do you have an campaigns or sources.

## 2. Add a source

SlateCX agents runs using a set of sources. Sources represent all the information your agent is trained on. You add, remove and update sources in the **Library.**

<figure><img src="https://2844884401-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F5AhClAmEf81WtHS8kM9H%2Fuploads%2FR27saRV1diWMRQ0A64E0%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=60052655-f4bb-43d0-b4d9-f903f07ad16b" alt="" width="215"><figcaption><p>Dashboard side menu</p></figcaption></figure>

There are lots of different types of sources but one of the most useful starting points is to add one or more pages from your existing marketing website as a source.

Too add a source click on:

<figure><img src="https://2844884401-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F5AhClAmEf81WtHS8kM9H%2Fuploads%2FiyhYcPrnOek3sKtif9kP%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=3c3aac92-f634-4d2f-8ad2-0e6d7c75d0a7" alt=""><figcaption><p>Click to add a source to your Library</p></figcaption></figure>

Now click on Website.

<figure><img src="https://2844884401-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F5AhClAmEf81WtHS8kM9H%2Fuploads%2FVZb71uKZciduM0raXS6d%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=64000266-097e-49d8-b477-f8cb7e6cdca2" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Tags are optional. They allow you to easily find specific sources when you have lots of them. For now just enter your website URL and click 'Discover'. In this case I will use the SlateCX website.

<figure><img src="https://2844884401-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F5AhClAmEf81WtHS8kM9H%2Fuploads%2F2p8abH42k4LGWbd7Mjn3%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=c513d9eb-c00e-4c2a-a1e6-5008664ac6a0" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Pages will be added as the site is crawled. You can start immediately, no need to wait until the crawl finishes.

On the right hand side you will be able to Import any of the pages you want your agent to know about. If you want to import the entire group you can click at the top of the list (in this case it says 'Import 6').

<figure><img src="https://2844884401-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F5AhClAmEf81WtHS8kM9H%2Fuploads%2FkqPl69Nm0RPLs2hEPh0I%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=fcbe2303-3ea7-4c0b-b960-42a0ae8a3cf1" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Note that they now change their status to 'Queued'. The SlateCX crawler is going through them in detail and adding them to the agent knowlege. Depending on how many you added it might take a few minutes.

Wait for the source to finish processing before continuing. See [Add sources](/guides/add-sources.md).

## 3. Create a card from the source

Creating cards is entirely optional, you can build a sophisticated conversational agent without ever creating a card.&#x20;

What cards add is the ability to build out the SlateCX workspace over time. When workspaces are shared the cards are also shared. Cards act like a journey of what research has been performed by the prospect.

Cards also make the experience much more interactive, rather than just chatting back and forth you can present videos, calculators, graphics and other images to reinforce their research.

From the source, create a card. The card is the thing a prospect actually sees in a Slate; the source is what the agent reads. See [Create cards](/guides/create-cards.md).

## 4. Create a campaign

Go to **Campaigns** and create one. Give your campaign a meaningful name (for example 'My First SlateCX Agent').

<figure><img src="https://2844884401-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F5AhClAmEf81WtHS8kM9H%2Fuploads%2FCjHbwKwU0O4USampohB7%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=70e4e906-15c2-4080-81ff-ffcdd4097538" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

&#x20;In the campaign editor:

1. **Sources** — select the source you added, so the agent can retrieve from it.
2. **Agent setup** — set the bot name and any goals or questions you want. Defaults are workable.
3. **Entry points** — create one entry point with a greeting message.

## 5. Open your entry point

Use the entry point's preview. You should land in a Wallet Slate with:

* the greeting message as the first assistant message
* any cards attached to the entry point
* a working chat/voice box

## 6. Ask a question

Ask something the source can answer. The agent retrieves from the campaign's selected sources and answers in the Slate.

## What you built

```
Source  ->  Card  ->  Campaign  ->  Entry point  ->  Slate
(knowledge) (shown)  (grouping)   (published link)  (prospect's workspace)
```
